Easy and relaxing walk, ideal for whoever loves Nordic walking. The itinerary develops over meadows and through fir trees and larch woods below Foppe and with a view of Civetta’s northern towers, with great views over the water pools and Mae waterfalls, as well as over Mount Pelmo.
The itinerary starts from the main square of Pecol Vecchio, crossing the torrent Maè over a narrow bridge and continue along the country gravel road (586) which heads westwards and the Lendina slope (Ski Civetta area) following signs for “percorso vita” a jogging trail.
Go straight 250 metres after the bridge, near casa Bellini
The road passes near the small Zorzi hut, then climbs up for a short section through the woods to gently reach a junction at Pian de la Miniera (or Pian de le Fraghe, 1433 m, 15 mins; on the left the path no. 586 continues for Val di Pecol). Continuing along the flat, to the west (no. 587) for roughly 1250 m you come to another junction; here you leave path no. 587 (which climbs up to the left towards Val Civetta) to then continue along the course of the Mae torrent. Reach “Le Palanche” (which means wooden planks; 30 mins) where as well as enjoying the open pastures, little waterfalls and pools of water, you can comfortably sit at a table covered with a roof and have a picnic or barbecue.
To return to Pecol, cross over the wooden bridge and straight after turn right (east, to the left climb up towards Coldai) to follow the wide path-mule track which heads back down to the village along the orographic left hand side, with modest ups and downs amongst open pastures which give a great view, cross Val Fontana, pass below the Le Coste chairlift and you are back at the starting point.
Val di Zoldo is waiting for you
