Festival of the blueberry

In Zoppé di Cadore, on Thursday August 8th, taste the delicious cakes and dishes prepared with the blueberry, the forest fruit which grows in the Dolomites.

The festival starts at 10am in Piazza Masi Simonetti

At 3pm a special rite will take place: a charcoal kiln will be ingnited during a reenactment of the old tradition of burning wood into coal, once used as fuel for the small-scale iron-processing industry in the Zoldo valley.

The kiln will be looked after day and night until the 14th August evening, when there will be a concert to celebrate the end of the fire.

The following day 15th August, the kiln will be dismantled and the coal taken out.
