Snowshoeing

Snowshoe excursion | Mount Punta

The trail is not that long but is demanding and steep in the final stretch that offers one of the best views of the Val di Zoldo seen from the most central point of the valley. Not surprisingly, it is dubbed "Ombelico di Zoldo", i.e, the Heart of Zoldo.

You park in the lovely village of Costa and from here follow the forest road (497) to the Passo Tamai, where you get a panoramic view of Cadore and Zoppé. Then continue along the path (499), first on the ridge and then steep in the final stretch, up to the top.
Downhill (or uphill), if snow conditions are good, you can follow trail 496 leading from La Forzela directly to the village.

You can also climb from the cemetery of Zoppé di Cadore following a forest road to the Passo Tamai and from there, the same as for the previous itinerary, to the top. Likewise, you can "cut" up the Casera di Bragarezza to La Forzela following trail 496 (check snow conditions).
The climb from this side is a little more shaded.

Another interesting alternative route (a little shorter than the summit of Punta) is to reach the top of Col Grant, located above the Passo Tamai. From the pass, continue uphill following the forest track heading towards Monte Pelmo (opposite the previous one) until you reach a saddleback. From here take a path (direction Punta - south) that in a short time leads to the top along a scenic ridge.

With a little effort, from Costa you can go and visit the historic Mas di Sabe in a particularly enchanting position.

Before embarking in a winter excursion, check out weather forecasts and snow conditions.

We remind you that from January 1st, 2022 a new legislation on winter excursions is on force: self-rescue disposals are mandatory for all winter excursionists in avalanche prone environments.
