Val Barance cliff

The Val Barance is one of the wildest, most enchanting valleys in the Val di Zoldo, located between the San Sebastiano and the Spiz di Mezzodì mountain groups, in the Dolomites. The rock face in this area boasts 33 routes.

It can be reached from the village of Pralongo, about 2.6 km from the centre of Forno. Once you reach the sports field, follow the signs for the Casera al Pian, along the forest road. Once you reach the Casera, you can park your car and continue on foot along path no. 524 to the left of the Casera, towards Baita Angelini and the little Vach lake. Follow the path until the fork, where you’ll find a sign indicating the cliff. Continue in the direction shown on the sign for three minutes, until you reach the rock walls.

Alpine guide’s notes: long pitches, be careful with the length of the ropes and always knot them at the end. On some of the long pitches, the anchors are quite far apart. Much of the cliff remains dry even after long periods of poor weather. In the central sector, it is possible to climb reasonably effectively even in the rain.
