From Passo Cibiana (1536 m) take the uphill road on the right following the sign “Monte Rite 479”. This road, with a series of hairpin turns distinguished with feminine nouns, will lead you at higher altitude gradually.
Reached the quote of 2000 metres go through a gallery; this is an evocative passage but pay attention as the tunnel may present some ice on the terrain and it is not lit, however the phone flashlight is sufficient. Once out of the gallery, you will be enchanted by the panoramic terrace opening up with a view on the surrounding peaks: Sassolungo di Cibiana, Sasso di Bosconero, Spiz di Mezzodì.
Going on, reach Forcella Deona (2053 m) from where you can catch sight of Mount Pelmo. On the floowing crossroad, you can take equally the right or the left, both will lead you to the terrace of Rifugio Dolomites, rising in an ancient military fort.
Continue over the terrace and reach the summit of Monte Rite (2183 m) for a 360° scenery on Val di Zoldo and on the near Cadore.
Due to its southern exposure, icy stretches can often be found!
Before embarking in a winter excursion, check out weather forecasts and snow conditions.
