Once reached the locality of Palafavera, a few kilometers far from the village of Pecol heading to Passo Staulanza, on the right just after the Camping Palafavera (1514m) you will find a sign leading to dino’s prints.
The track is immediately steep venturing into the thick wood of larches and firs. Got over an area with boardwalks covered by snow, cross the small water stream of Rio Bianco. Take the left along the stream, through a steep but brief passage you will reach a clearing just in front of Mount Pelmo, entering into Plan de le Mandrate.
Arrived at a big boulder, follow the yellow sign leading to the right. Gradually loosing the view on Mount Pelmo, from now on you will be able to stretch over the impressiveness of Mount Civetta.
The track becomes larger and downhill till reaching the charming hamlet of Coi and its typically wooden barns.
Note: from here the way back to Palafavera is a bit more tiring than the way there (more uphill gradient) especially if you depart from the hairpin bend.
Before embarking in a winter excursion, check out weather forecasts and snow conditions.
We remind you that from January 1st, 2022 a new legislation on winter excursions is on force: self-rescue disposals are mandatory for all winter excursionists in avalanche prone environments.
