Snowshoes excursion - Pecol-Baita Civetta
- Difficulty: Easy, also for families
- Length: 5,2 km
- Precision time: 2 h A/R
Starting from the village of Pecol Vecchio and once reached the parking in front of Casa Bellini 81400 m), paying attention to skiers, cross the ski slopes heading to the informative panel of the chairlift in front of you. Keeping the panel on your right, climb up a steep tract of the slope until you find a yellow sign indicating “Baita Civetta”, then turn right.
Later a clear crossroad suggests to turn right in order to make it to the characteristic mountain hut at the foot of Mount Civetta. From here on, the trekking is mainly in the wood and you can breath the pleasant and pure air of Val di Pecol.
Deviating towards the right you can arrive at the plain “Le Palanche”, a pic-nic area provided with several boardwalks to cross the initial section of the water stream Maè.
Instead, the trail to Baita Civetta, continues straight going back to the wood and running along the water stream (looking on your right you may be able to see a small waterfall called “Gavon Grant”).
Briefly, you will be back to the ski area and as soon as the trees leave space for the slopes you will be able to see the little wooden dwelling hosting Baita Civetta (1579 m) on the left.
Before embarking in a winter excursion, check out weather forecasts and snow conditions.
We remind you that from January 1st, 2022 a new legislation on winter excursions is on force: self-rescue disposals are mandatory for all winter excursionists in avalanche prone environments.
